The Town of Addison engaged Halff to support the implementation of its stormwater maintenance plan with goals of extending asset lifespans, supporting long-term operations, and delivering a high level of service to the Town’s residents within the White Rock Creek Basin. The Halff team utilized field surveys, CCTV and manhole inspections, GIS reviews and engineering evaluations to develop a high-quality, basin-wide digital dataset within an ambitious four-month timeframe. Field surveys were essential for mapping the current stormwater infrastructure and identifying potential problems. CCTV inspections offered in-depth internal views of stormwater pipes, uncovering cracks, blockages and other defects that might jeopardize system integrity. Manhole inspections included thorough visual assessments and measurements, confirming that all components were thoroughly evaluated. Integrating GIS technology allowed accurate geolocation of surveyed assets. The spatial data was analyzed to detect patterns and prioritize assets in need of immediate attention. Lidar scans and 360-degree photogrammetry provided a detailed visual record for future maintenance and inspections.
The Halff team’s approach to stormwater management was robust and data-centric, facilitating the Town’s ability to meet its long-term operational goals. Key project deliverables comprised a verified and cleaned GIS database containing geolocated gravity main defects, standardized condition scores, and prioritized recommendations for Capital and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) corrective actions.
